An opportunity has become available to work for ACT Together, one of Australia’s leading children’s charities. Permanent opportunities exist for Residential Youth Workers within ACT Together based in various locations within ACT.

The Role
Reporting to the  Team Leader, the Residential Youth Workers will effectively ensure the provision of high quality services and support that will deliver significant improvements in the lives of the children and young people in which they work with.

The Candidate
The ideal Residential Youth Workers will have:
  • Utilise current practices in therapeutic interventions for children and young people in care with regard to trauma and/or attachment-based behaviour
  • Ensure that their allocated child/young person's mandatory and essential requirements are met
  • Facilitate day to day casework and planning
  • Develop, monitor and review their allocated child/young person's care plan, review, future planning plan and any other significant meetings.
  • Facilitate the development and maintenance of a safe and planned environment where children and young people's developmental needs are effectively met
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, tidiness, comfort, safety, homeliness within the residential home environment
  • Support engagement in suitable activities with child and/or young people
AM shifts - 8am - 5pm 
PM shifts - 4.30pm - 8.30am with a sleep break between 11pm - 7am 

You will need to be available for all shifts across an 8 week rotating roster.

SCHADS Level 3.1

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
Vaccination for COVID-19 is a condition of employment and engagement with Barnardos.
