Social Worker

Salary: $45 - $60 per hour

Our Client, two leading hospitals on the NSW Central Coast is currently recruiting experienced social workers for short term contracts in Gosford and Woy Woy. The role has become available due to a State-funded program for the Winter period.

Working as a Social Worker, you will respond to the emotional, psychological and social needs of clients, their families and carers and in particular how these impact the provision of care and services in their home environment and on discharge from the hospital. You will work in a small acute hospital and be part of a small and close-knit team of other Social Workers.

This role will involve;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong team player yet with the ability to work independently
  • Responding to the acute presentations for people coming to the hospital including bio-psychosocial assessments.
  • Support advocate for patient needs Understanding of community resources and legislation relevant to children and families
  • Understanding of child protection systems, family violence, child development and mental health issues to enhance clinical care
  • Commitment to building professional skills and capacity
  • Commitment to professional supervision and willingness to seek appropriate guidance and direction
  • Ability to effectively intervene with vulnerable people and their families
The requirements for this role include;

You will be a dynamic, innovative and flexible Social Worker with a good knowledge of hospital Social Work practices, including a good understanding of referral networks and resources. You will be able to demonstrate skills in psychosocial assessments, problem-solving, communication and hospital discharge planning. You will be innovative and dynamic in the field of Social Work and you ensure that high-quality Social Work services that place the client at the centre are provided.

What you need:
  • You must be eligible for AASW membership including a relevant and recognised Bachelor's or Master of Social Work
  • Graduates are welcome to apply, however, it is essential that during your studies, a minimum of one University placement was conducted in a hospital environment.
  • Current Police check
  • Current Working with Children’s Check 
  • Located on the Central Coast of NSW or with the ability to travel
