The Role
Barnardos are looking for a full-time Senior Caseworker for the Youth Support Services Team based in Cranebrook, Penrith. This is a contract position to 30 June 2022.
The role of the Senior Caseworker is to ensure that high quality services are delivered to children, young people and families within a child focused practice framework.
The Senior Caseworker role will provide day to day casework that is consistent with the US&S pilot specifications and Barnardos Policies and Procedures. The role includes: mentoring and coaching Youth Support Program Caseworkers; daily case coordination; home visiting; building and maintaining relationships with external service providers, including schools, DCJ, Health, etc. and engaging with young people and their families. The case work is Youth focused and family-centred, which means direct engagement and support with the young person, as well as working with family members as determined by the requirements of the case.
This position requires travel throughout the Nepean Blue Mountains area which covers Local Government Areas of St Marys, Blue Mountains and Penrith.

The Candidate
The successful Senior Caseworker will ideally have:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Science, Community Services or a related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs and concerns of families and children within the Blacktown and Penrith LGA’s
  • Sound knowledge of Youth Homelessness and Youth Services within the Blacktown and Penrith LGA’s.
  • Sound knowledge of child protection issues with the capacity to identify when level of risk requires safety planning and statutory child protection intervention
  • Minimum 4 years experience working with children and young people and their family in a child protection context
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of assertive case management practices for working with young people and families who may be unwilling to engage with support services

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number).
You will need a full drivers license and capacity to participate in an on-call roster, providing a 24/7 response to children, young people and families.

$86, 488 - $95, 104 base (including FBT packaging) + benefits + Super.
