They advocate for children and young people and contribute to community knowledge about their issue.

The Role
Barnardos is looking for a full time (35 hours per week) Reportable Conduct Specialist which can be based either at Barnardos Head Office, Ultimo, Sydney or at the Barnardos ACT Together officer in Bruce, Canberra. This is a 6 month fixed term contract, with the possibilty of a 3 months extension. Some travel between NSW and ACT will be required in this role.

Reporting to the Safeguarding Manager, the Reportable Conduct Specialist oversees the compliance and quality assurance of all reportable conduct requirements of Barnardos to ensure we meet our reporting obligations under the reportable conduct scheme in NSW and ACT.

The Reportable Conduct Specialist will be responsible for guiding programs through the legislative and internal requirements of dealing with reportable conduct matters, including the carrying out of investigations. This role will ensure the quality assurance  for documentation and notifcation processes in this area.

The Candidate
The successful Reportable Conduct Specialist will ideally have:
  • Industry tertiary qualification or 5 years related experience in the field of child protection, social work, case management or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to work within statutory and legislative requirements, industry standards and policies to appropriately respond to reportable conduct matters
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, analyse and classify incidents and appropriately respond to reportable conduct matters in a timely manner
  • Experience in conducting investigations of complex reportable matters coupled with advanced level of report writing and record keeping
  • Demonstrated capacity to interpret and analyse evidence to determine findings in relation to alleged misconduct
  • Demonstrated understanding of procedural fairness coupled with strong interviewing skills, including the ability to interview employees and children of varying ages
  • Demonstrated capacity to undertake risk assessments, develop and implement appropriate risk management plans
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Additional info
To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number).
  
You will also need a full drivers license and capacity to participate in an on-call roster, providing a 24/7 response to children, young people and families.

$84, 488 - $94, 382 p.a (including FBT packaging) + benefits + Super.
