About the Role
Barnardos are looking for a part-time (28.5 hours) permanent Intake Child Protection Officer for the Intake Team based at the Barnardos ACT Together Centre in Bruce, Canberra, ACT. This is a 3 week rotating roster, shifts are from 7.30am – 3pm & 3pm – 9.30pm. Reporting to the Intake Manager, the Intake Child Protection Officer, Intake Team will be responsible for;
  • Ensuring the best care outcomes for children and young people through managing incoming referrals for children and young people requiring out of home care, as well as additional support for clients both during business hours and after hours.
About You
To be successful in the Intake Child Protection Officer role, you will ideally have;
  • Qualification in Social Work and/or relevant accrued specialist experience in Out Of Home Care-related work
  • Working knowledge of relevant child protection and related legislation including knowledge of the Children and Young Person’s Act, 2008 (ACT)
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with ACT Care and Protection Services and the Department of Family and Community Services and other relevant government and non-government agencies along with demonstrated links with existing relevant networks within the Care field
  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, presentation, communication and consultation skills enabling successful negotiation, conflict resolution and liaison which includes the ability to credibly represent Barnardos in any forum
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in stressful situations

Salary: Base $58,200 to $66,300 plus leave loading plus superannuation.  Packaging available to receive $15,860 of your salary tax free. Motor vehicle packaging available on selected roles.
