About the Role
Barnardos are looking for a part time permanent (21hours/week) Family Support Worker for the Family Services team based at the Barnardos Centre in Warrawong, NSW. Reporting to the Manager – Family Support Services, the Family Support Worker will be responsible for;
  • Providing direct family support and casework services to families in their homes on a flexible basis.
  • Undertake assessment, case planning and review of families accepted to the service using the Barnardos e-SCARF and MyStory case planning/management systems
  • Provide support to program areas to ensure that activities within this program areas are delivered in a professional manner. This may include but is not exclusive too; SUPPS playgroups and Parenting Groups
  • Provide respectful advocacy and targeted, timely referrals, as required and appropriate
  • Utilize service delivery strategies which are informed by a strong evidence base and underpinned by family support principals of strengths based and trauma informed practice
  
About You
To be successful in the Family Support Worker role, you will ideally have;
  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Welfare, Psychology or related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with, assess and work with families where there are complex issues.
  • Understanding of Child protection, Family Violence and Trauma and the impact this has on young children.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with vulnerable and disadvantaged young children and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and assess risk to ensure the safety of families and their children.
  • Good Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Proficient Computer Skills particularly with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook Calendar.
  • Current driver’s licence

Salary: Base $66,393 to $72,542 (pro rata) plus leave loading plus superannuation.  Packaging available to receive $15,860 of your salary tax free. Motor vehicle packaging available on selected roles.

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
