The Role
Permanent full time Family Connect & Support (FCS) Workers are required for Family Connect & Support Service based at the Barnardos Centre in Western Sydney or the Blue Mountains. 
  
Reporting to the Team Leader, the FCS Workers are responsible for  delivering a high standard of service to vulnerable children, young people and their families by providing comprehensive assessment, engagement, short term case planning and case coordination as required with the overarching goal of identifying and referring families to relevant supports within a time frame of 16 weeks. Providing service delivery to Aboriginal Children, Young People and their communities is one of the identified targeted population for this program.

This is a full time permanent role working Monday to Friday 35 hours/week. 

The Candidate
The successful FCS Workers will ideally have:
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or Social Welfare related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience of working with children and young people and their family in a child protection context, including experience in undertaking comprehensive assessment
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in information provision, intake, assessment and referral of working with families in need of support services
  • Excellent understanding of child protection issues and client vulnerabilities such as drug and alcohol use, domestic violence, mental health issues, and the impact of trauma and the effect on child behaviour and development.
  • Work effectively with groups and individuals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Additional info
To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number).
  
You will also need to have a current NSW driver license, demonstrated computer competence and experience of using electronic case management tools. You must also have access to your own vehicle.
  
Salary
$72, 912 -$84, 327 base (including FBT packaging) + Super.  Motor vehicle packaging optional.
