About the Role
Barnardos are looking for a part-time (30 hours per week) permanent Hippy Coordinator for the Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) based in Maroubra, 2035

The Hippy Coordinator will be responsible for;
  • Taking new referrals for children and families;
  • Engaging, recruiting and retaining families in the HIPPY Program to the targets set out in the funding agreement.
  • Supporting Program Participants by facilitating regular Group Meetings, connection to local services, provide required HIPPY Materials to each Program Participant and specific support to Program Participants.
  • Establishing direct links with children, young people their parents/carers and school teacher/s who are referred to HIPPY;
  • Supporting participants to identify and address educational needs and ensure that each participant has an individual learning plan including goals, indicators of achievement and review dates;
  • Assessing other needs and offer supported referral to appropriate local services as needed;
  • Selecting, training, supporting, and supervising Home Tutors for the program
  • Supporting Home Tutors to undertake Home Visits, delivery of the HIPPY Curriculum and foster employment and training pathways and participation in Pathways to Possibilities (P2P);
  • Home visits and delivery of HIPPY sessions.
  • Participating and build networks and partnerships across the HIPPY network and local community; with key stakeholders e.g., families, early childhood services, School Principals and staff, Aboriginal Education Assistants, Aboriginal community organisations and engage key stakeholders in HIPPY events.
About You
As a Hippy Coordinator, you will ideally have;
  • Qualifications in Early Childhood, Community Development, Bachelor of Social Work, Diploma of Welfare Studies, or equivalent qualifications in a related discipline appropriate to the coordination of child, youth, family and community services
  • Knowledge of, and experience in working with culturally and linguistically diverse families
  • Proven ability to successfully facilitate a community-based program
  • Demonstrated experience in working with local communities and building local networks and positive relationships with service providers
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team
  • Knowledge of and experience in working to support adult learners
  • Demonstrated experience in working with families.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in working with culturally and linguistically diverse families including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families

Salary: Base $70,626 (pro rata) per annum plus leave loading plus superannuation.  Packaging available to receive $15,860 of your salary tax free. Motor vehicle packaging available on selected roles.

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
