About the Role
Barnardos are looking for a full-time permanent Case Manager for the Carer Recruitment Program based in Bruce 2617 

The Case Manager will be responsible for;
  • Ensure carer files are compliant with ACT legislative requirements.  
  • Be involved in carer support groups and social functions.
  • Support carers waiting for placement and respite carers by way of phone contact, home visits and ongoing training.
  • Arrange and participate in the training of potential and existing foster carers. Including Core training (at least twice per year dependent on carer numbers) and ongoing training (at least 4 times per year).
  • Complete detailed assessments that are relevant to the program that the person is being assessed for.
  • Respond to and record telephone enquiries on the Carer Data Base.
  • Develop recruitment campaigns with other team members, respond and screen initial inquiries undertake information sessions.
  • Be able to use well developed communication skills including the ability to address difficult issues in an appropriate and respectful manner.
  • Regularly meet and report to Manager (at least monthly) on recruitment campaigns, carer enquiries and progress of assessments. 
  • Liaise with relevant community groups and Government departments.
  • Promote the Program in the community and with other relevant agencies.
  • Attend any external meetings, committees, planning groups or other events as directed by the Program Manager.
About You
As a Case Manager, you will ideally have;
  • Qualification in a relevant discipline or experience in the Out of Home care sector.
  • Excellent writing capabilities
  • Experience in conducting Training
  • Knowledge of Child Protection and Out of Home Care structures and their roles in ACT.
  • Understanding of current ACT legislation with regard to care and protection of children and young people.
  • Understanding of current ACT legislation with regard to working with and supporting foster carers.
  • Experience in working with children and families from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background.
  • Experience in working with children and families from an Indigenous background. 
  • Experience conducting assessments of carers (desirable).
  • Flexibility to undertake some out-of-hours work, to include training and foster carer assessments

Salary: Base $67,268 to $83,178 per annum plus leave loading plus superannuation.  Packaging available to receive $15,860 of your salary tax free. Motor vehicle packaging available on selected roles.

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
