About the Role
Barnardos are looking for a full-time 12 month contract Case Manager for the Family Support Services Team based in Warrawong, 2502

The Case Manager will be responsible for;
  • Providing direct family support and casework services to families in their homes.
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments for each family referred to you in partnership with the family and other agencies.
  • Ensuring SCARF assessment is conducted in a timely manner with families and relevant information is shared.
  • Providing respectful advocacy and targeted referrals, as required and appropriate.
  • Referring families to external or internal services and programs (i.e. therapeutic supports, groupwork, parenting groups etc.) where appropriate to meet the family’s needs.
  • Working within an evidence-based practice framework and deliver a service guided by family support principles
  • Demonstrating an understanding of the ethos of Safety and Prevention by providing meaningful and demonstrable child centered and family focused information and support.
  • Using trauma informed and strength-based practice, including an understanding of the impact of attachment-based disruption of parent child relationships
  • Reviewing the progress with the family in an appropriate timeframe.
  • Understanding and ability to work within the PSP Family Preservation Model.
About You
As a Case Manager, you will ideally have;
  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Social Studies, Psychology or related discipline.
  • High level knowledge and understanding of child development theory and assessment of parenting capacity.
  • Knowledge of trauma informed practice and the effects trauma can have on child development and family functioning.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the drivers of children into out of home care.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with vulnerable children and families.
  • Minimum of 12 months experience in child & family case management with children and families.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child development and the impact of childhood trauma on child development, safety and wellbeing.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with, assessing and working with families where there are multiple, complex and intersecting issues.
  • Experience implementing outcome-focused case management plans aimed at supporting children and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and respond to child protection issues including ability to assess and manage risks to ensure the safety of children and their families.
  • Proven ability to actively engage with vulnerable and hard to reach families.
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery of evidence-informed practice, including group work programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect and maintain strong professional relationships within the Child & Family and Aboriginal service networks.
  • Be available to participate in a 24 hour on call roster.

Salary: Base $67,268 to $83,178 per annum plus leave loading plus superannuation.  Packaging available to receive $15,860 of your salary tax free. Motor vehicle packaging available on selected roles.

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
