The Role
A full time Case Manager - Youth Accommodation Service is required for Youth Homelessness Programs based at Canberra Children’s Family Centre/Youth Housing sites. Main office is based in Braddon, Canberra, ACT. This is a 12 month fixed term contract.
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Case Manager – Youth Accommodation Service will support young people through case management, to provide accommodation and support for homeless young people according to their individual needs. They will also support clients to develop practical skills, including budgeting, menu planning, cooking, cleaning, general household routines and structure

The Candidate
The successful Case Manager – Youth Accommodation Service will ideally have:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications minimum of Diploma Community Services, Mental Health and/or any allied health qualifications
  • Demonstrated understanding of casework practice including case management, assessment and preparation of case plans
  • Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development and the issues that place young people at risk of family disconnection and homelessness
  • A knowledge of Youth Housing Issues
  • Experience in the youth homelessness field
  • Experience in mental health, drug/alcohol, OOHC or juvenile justice systems.
  • Ability to relate to establish and maintain appropriate professional relationships as well as positively engage, interact and work with a broad range of stakeholder groups including those of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background

To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number), and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
You will also need to have a current driver license (with minimum of 1 years driving experience) and proficiency with Microsoft Programs.
$68, 138 - $75, 235 base (including FBT packaging) + Super.  Motor vehicle packaging optional.
