About the Role
Barnardos are looking for a part-time (25 hours per week) permanent Aboriginal Cultural Care Support Worker for the Aboriginal Cultural Unit (ACU). The location for this role is negotiable, noting travel to Barnardos Head Office and sites across NSW and ACT as required.  Reporting to the Manager – ACU, the Aboriginal Cultural Care Specialist will be responsible for;
  • Assisting Barnardos in building the cultural safety of our programs across OOHC and Safety and prevention in both NSW and ACT
  • Building Barnardos compliance with all elements of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle
  • Assisting the Manager ACU in Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) development, implementation and reporting; and successful functioning of the Footprints Together Working Group
About You
This position is Aboriginal identified. To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the role be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
To be successful in the Aboriginal Cultural Care Support Worker role, you will ideally have;
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with vulnerable children and families
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle
  • Demonstrated proficient communication and consultation skills (written & verbal)
  • Established problem solving skills
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in human services and/or experience in areas outlined above
  • Knowledge of and experience in OOHC service delivery, and/or prevention and early intervention program practice [desirable]

Salary: Base $47,840- $53,828 inclusive of salary packaging (FBT), plus leave loading and Superannuation on top.
  
To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
