Therapeutic Specialist

Salary: $110,000 - $120,000 per annum

Our client, a well-established organisation, is seeking a Therapeutic Specialist to join their supportive and growing team in Dubbo. You will be responsible for providing clinical advice and support to staff, aiming to develop independence and pro-social behaviour for children and young people living with disability.

This role will involve;
  • Undertake or arrange assessment of children and young people living with a disability and/or experienced trauma
  • Design, implement, evaluate and review evidence-based behaviour support interventions for children and young people
  • Educate and support care team staff in the implementation of Behaviour Support Plans
  • Provide clinical advice, training, peer supervision, mentoring and debriefing to staff as required
The requirements for this role include;
  • A Bachelor’s Degree qualification in Psychology, Behavioural Science, Social Work or relevant tertiary
  • Eligible for registration with AHPRA or AASW
  • Unrestricted driver’s license
  • Knowledge and understanding of Children and Young Person (Care and Protection) Act 1998 and NSW Child Safe Standards for Permanent Care
  • Understanding of the impact of trauma, abuse and neglect may have on children and young people living with disability
  • Understanding of different supports for children and young people living with disability
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal communities, families and children specifically in relation to the placement of Aboriginal children and young people in OOHC
  • Ability to develop, implement and review Behaviour Support Plans
Additional Information 
  • A number of probity checks are required including holding a current working with children, NDIS check and undertaking a National police checks.
