Counsellor

Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 per annum

Our client is seeking a Counsellor to join their collaborative team in Campbelltown. The role requires you to manage your own caseload to provide counselling support services to women and children to overcome the effects of trauma, as a result of family and domestic violence.
  
This role will involve;
  • Utilise a strength-based approach to provide therapeutic services such as counselling, therapeutic group work, information, referrals and support to women, young people and children impacted by domestic and family abuse
  • Engage clients to undertake comprehensive assessments to develop, implement, monitor and review their care plan and outcomes, including where intensive family support is identified and agreed
  • Involve clients to conduct appropriate strength-based assessment and risk minimisation processes, including safety planning
  • Provide a range of multimodal interventions from a person centred, whole family approach that enhance the resilience and wellbeing of children, young people and families to overcome the effects of social, emotional and behaviour difficulties due to trauma, abuse and other forms of chronic adversity
The requirements for this role include;
  • A degree qualification in Psychology, Counselling or Social Work or have a relevant tertiary qualification
  • 3 years’ experience providing counselling services and group work, including experience related to domestic abuse and trauma
  • Experience in delivering counselling services to adults and children
  • Knowledge of Child Protection issues such as AOD, domestic abuse, mental health and the impact of trauma and the effect on attachment, child behaviour and development
  • Exposure to facilitating programs for individuals and groups
  • Understanding of the needs of diverse communities such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD), and gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI)communities
Additional Information 
  • A number of probity checks are required including holding a current working with children and undertaking a National police checks.
