Behaviour Support Practitioner

Location: Sydney
Area: South West & M5 Corridor
Worktype: Full Time
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 per annum

Working as an integral part of the Clinical Team this role provides therapeutic clinical expertise and support in developing and implementing professional and informative Behaviour Support Plans for children and young people in Out of Home Care.  

  
This role will involve;

  • Developing comprehensive Behaviour Support Plans that are therapeutic and incorporate positive behavior strategies
  • Engage young people, carers and other persons in involved in the care of the child in the implementation of the behavior support plan.
  • Train carers and key support people in the implementation of strategies to support a child or young person in their natural environment such as their home, educational institution and any other program and work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders.
  • Use research evidence and professional reasoning when recommending the most appropriate Behaviour Support Plan therapy strategies, duration, location and timing.
  • Adopt a multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary model where appropriate.
  • Provide relevant training, support and consultation to caseworkers as approved by management.
The requirements for this role include;
  • Bachelor qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Allied Health
  • Current registration with AHPRA or relevant professional body
  • Understanding of Trauma informed principles in behavior support
  • Undergraduate and/or postgraduate work experience in a related field
  • Ability to work co-operatively and respectfully with team members, foster carers, families and professionals from various agencies and cultural backgrounds
  • Car and License 
Additional Information 
  • A number of probity checks are required including holding a current working with children and undertaking a National police checks.
