AOD Counsellor

Area: CBD, Inner West & Eastern Suburbs

Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 per annum

Our Client is currently recruiting for an experienced AOD Counsellor to join their team based in Harris Park
Caseload is up to 17 clients, undertaking group sessions and 121 counselling as an AOD counsellor you will provide clients with the necessary support and tools to enable them to reduce the impact and dependence on alcohol and drugs in their lives.
There is a degree of flexibility required for this position the standard working hours are 8:30 to 4:30 Monday to Friday except for a requirement for 1 afternoon shift every 3-4 weeks with the next day off and shift allowance as well as 1 Saturday shift every 2 months
This role will involve;
  • Conduct individual counselling sessions and develop treatment plans and case formulations based on empirical theory such as CBT
  • Undertake case management of clients
  • Facilitate psycho-educational group sessions
  • Assessment of clients (including initial clinical and risk assessment on admission)
  • Preparation of reports for external agencies (such as court reports)
  • Make clinical decisions in consultation with the Head of Counselling and/or clinical team
  • Ensure that case notes and client information is maintained to the required standards
  • Ensure that clinical services delivered reflect good practice standards in line with Policy and Procedures
The requirements for this role include;  
  • Degree qualified in Psychology or Counselling related discipline
  • Knowledge of ‘Harm Minimization’ approach to AOD
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience in facilitating groups
  • Experience in individual counselling
  • Experience in case management
  • Ability to work individually and in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Provisional or full registration with AHPRA or PACFA
  • Hold current driver’s licence (travel required)
  • Able to work one afternoon shift every 4-6 weeks. 
    and one Saturday shift every 8-10 weeks, along with Participation in rostered on-call duties (7 days every 8 weeks)
  • Covid-19 Vaccination requirement

Additional Information 
  • A number of probity checks are required including holding a current working with children and undertaking a National police checks.
