Intake Support Officer (Domestic violence and homelessness)

Location: Regional NSW
Area: Newcastle, Maitland & Hunter

Salary: $90,000 - $100,000 per annum

Our Client is currently recruiting for an experienced Intake Support Officer who specialises in Domestic Violence and Homelessness to join their team based in Maitland NSW.
This role will involve;

  • Provide person centred, trauma informed responses to SHS service requests
  • Triage and prioritise all incoming referrals and maintain intake assessment and case management waitlists, and close liaison with Admin support Officers
  • Contacting clients referred to SHS in a timely manner
  • Provide information, advice, advocacy, referrals, strategies and interventions to people in crisis and/or who are experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness and/or domestic violence
The requirements for this role include;
  • Tertiary qualification in social science or related field (Minimum Diploma level)
  • Demonstrate a high level of emotional maturity, including respectful and ethical behaviour
  • Experience working in a Specialist Homelessness Service and/or Specialist Community Service Organisation, understanding the complexities and support needs of the Homelessness and Domestic Violence client cohort
  • Ability to deliver services in accordance with the SHS program guidelines, and best practice skills as a case manager
  • Current clearance in relation to Working with Children and relevant NSW Police checks
  • Hold a current NSW Driver’s License
  • Fully COVID 19 Vaccinated
Additional Information 
  • A number of probity checks are required including holding a current working with children and undertaking a National police checks.
